A surprise:Rachel O’Leary, buy, Espresso Caffé Jaime Wilson
In a surprise move for all and unexpected he decided the Rachel O’Leary to buy Espresso Caffé famous from Jaime Wilson and that adds to the ownership
Jaime Wilson sold Caffé Espresso on Friday to Rachel O’Leary.
O’Leary worked in the Brown County Clerk of Court’s office for the last three years, but before that was a manager at Ten-O-One Club, also in downtown Green Bay.
“I love this industry. I’ve been in it since I was 15,” she said. “It pulls you in once you work in the restaurant industry.”
Terms of the sale were not announced.
Wilson worked at the restaurant, 119 S. Washington St., for six years before buying it 21 years ago.
“I’ve been on my feet for 45 years,” he said of his decision to retire, though it wasn’t an easy one. “Am I going to miss it? Incredibly. I’m already getting morose about it.”
Wilson said downtown development makes him wish he were 10 years younger, in spite of a decline in business throughout the recession that reached its lowest point last summer.
O’Leary is equally optimistic.
“Good things are happening downtown. I’m prepared to be part of that,” she said. “I’m looking to do more things with the Meyer (Theatre).”
Wilson said the Meyer, next door to Caffé Espresso, attracts a similar demographic and has been a good source of business, with more than 200 event days per year.
O’Leary said she may tweak some things at the cafe, but does not plan major changes. She made sure the restaurant’s recipes were included in the purchase.
“It will be the same menu, staff, hours,” she said. “I’m not going to change a good thing.”
Wilson said he had several suitors for the business.
“She’s going to put her stamp on the place. She’s going to provide a lot of energy,” he said of O’Leary.
Restaurant capacity is 100. It has 16 tables and 10 bar seats
